I am trying to use a German keyboard to write this .. it is absolutely frustrating, and my words will not come out exactly as I wish, in what follows.
I am in Geneva right now, at the end of a long day of sightseeing with Christine. We saw Lake Geneva, the old city, and a view of the entire city (with a 360-degree backdrop of snow-capped Alps) from a cathedral steeple. I stood next to a house that George Eliot lived and wrote in. We eventually made our way to see the headquarters for the UN General Assembly, the WHO, and UNICEF.. I am hoping to one day return to here, maybe for a few months, for an internship.
This city is far more multicultural than Zurich, and our lunch was delicious falafels while our dinner was Moroccan stew + cous-cous. While Zurich culture and language is based on German, Genevan culture and language are overwhelmingly French. It is a small city, however, and I feel like we were able to see it all in about half a day.
I am ready to return to Italy, to a new city, Milan. I am hoping that the train ride will be beautiful, since I slept for part of the train ride today. I am looking forward to gelato and art museums and window shopping and roasted chestnuts and lots of delicious pasta.
