Book Is Rallying Resistance to the Antivaccine Crusade - NYTimes, 1/13/08

I didn't even know there was a significant antivaccine movement until I read this article. What parents in this movement don't understand is that by refusing to vaccinate their children, they are decreasing our collective herd immunity. Herd immunity is the protective 'barrier' created by vaccinated people around you. If fewer people around you are vaccinated, herd immunity decreases, and you will be more likely to contract a communicable disease.
